Asashikage stable, led by former ozeki Kaio, shared a touching update on Instagram by Mother’s Day. Mitsuko (58), wife of stablemaster Kaio, expressed her gratitude after receiving carnations from her husband’s disciples.
Accompanied by 12 pupils, she posed with the bouquet in a series of photos. “Mother’s Day has arrived once again. This is a busy tournament period, but my disciples surprised me with 12 carnations. I also received gifts from retired disciples Kurahashi and Kaido Ma. On days like this, I feel especially proud and thankful to be the okamisan of a sumo stable. Their words of thanks and thoughtfulness truly bring me to tears. I am equally grateful — they are my lovely children,” she wrote.
