Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski has opened the door to a potential departure from the club, suggesting he will explore his options before deciding on his future. The Polish international, whose current contract with the Catalan giants expires in June 2026, made the remarks during the team’s title celebrations on the pitch at Spotify Camp Nou.

Speaking to Canal Plus+ Poland, Lewandowski was asked directly about his plans as his contract winds down in just over 50 days. “We’ll see. I will surely wait for different options to come up, and then I’ll decide what’s best for me and my family. So we’ll probably have to wait a bit longer,” he said with a serious expression.
When pressed on whether sporting ambitions or family life would carry more weight in his decision, the 37-year-old responded: “You can’t separate one from the other because everything is important. In the end, it’s about choosing what we feel is best. And that’s the direction we’ll go.”
Lewandowski also reflected on his role under manager Hansi Flick this season, admitting he sometimes understood being left out of the starting lineup. “It depended on the matches. Sometimes I understood it, and other times, obviously, I wanted to play. The season was long, and I had muscle problems at the start—one, two, even three small injuries held me back, especially early on. After that, I had to find my rhythm again, and that takes time. It wasn’t easy, but I was always ready and always wanted to play. That’s natural for me. But there are also advantages when you rest and don’t play as much: you have more energy in daily life. And I value that too.”
On winning LaLiga with Barcelona, Lewandowski credited the team’s consistency. “I think in LaLiga we maintained a very regular level and also won those matches against opponents where, theoretically, we shouldn’t drop points. That was the key to winning the championship this season. Those tight, difficult away games… we picked up points there. And I think those points accumulated and eventually gave us the title.”
