


Racing driver Katherine Legge is gearing up for one of motorsport’s most formidable tests: attempting “The Double” during the 2026 season. The 45-year-old plans to compete in both the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 on the same day, a feat that no woman has ever tried. Legge announced her intentions on Wednesday, revealing that she will become the first female driver to take on this grueling doubleheader.
Legge will drive the No. 11 car for HMD Motorsports with AJ Foyt Racing in the Indianapolis 500. With only 33 entries allowed, she is already locked into the event. Later that day, she will pilot the No. 78 car for Live Fast Motorsports in the Coca-Cola 600, though it is still unclear whether the field will exceed 40 cars. Both entries will be sponsored by e.l.f. Cosmetics.
The announcement comes just two weeks before Sunday, May 24, and marks a stunning development in the racing world. Legge recently completed her first day of practice for the 2026 Indianapolis 500 on Tuesday, preparing for the immense challenge of covering 1,100 miles between
