SD Huesca delivered a frustrating performance at El Alcoraz, falling 1–2 to Real Sociedad B in matchday 39 of LaLiga Hypermotion. The defeat not only extended Huesca’s misery but also handed the visitors a much-needed lifeline in their fight to stay afloat. For the Aragonese side, this was a golden opportunity to escape the relegation zone for the first time since February—but inconsistency and misfortune conspired against them.
The first half belonged almost entirely to Huesca, who dominated possession and created several promising chances. Yet, it was Real Sociedad B who struck first in the 27th minute. Lander Astiazaran finished off a precise cross from Ibai Aguirre to put the visitors ahead against the run of play.
After the break, the game shifted dramatically. In the 67th minute, Mikel Rodríguez received a red card, leaving the Basque side with ten men. Huesca piled on the pressure, and Óscar Sielva rattled the crossbar shortly after. But the visitors refused to buckle, and in the 77th minute, Job Ochieng sealed the victory with a composed finish. Jordi Escobar’s stoppage-time header gave Huesca a glimmer of hope, but it came too late—the final whistle confirmed another bitter loss.
Now sitting on 36 points, Huesca remain deep in the relegation places, three points adrift of safety (Cádiz have 39). Meanwhile, Real Sociedad B ended an eight-game winless run and climbed to 45 points, opening a nine-point gap over the drop zone. The atmosphere at El Alcoraz turned somber as fans realized their team may be running out of time to avoid a fall to the third tier.
